Water has started to come into Boyd! Thge old inlet pipe started flowing yesterday late morning and has been running since. Who knows how long it will last but we need to count our blessings that Boyd is getting any water the lake gets. Some white bass are already starting to push into the marina cove
This newsletter will be shorter than normal, with an additional one coming over the weekend, as I will be in Wyoming chasing walleyes for a few days this week.
The bottom bouncer and nightcrawler bite for walleye is going strong on most of our lakes. Look for the larger fish hanging in the 8-15 foot depth. This is a great depth to look at doing some night fishing for walleyes with the full moon this week, too.
Look for the bass near cover. This is a time when the topwater bite starts getting good. Try buzzbaits or weedless frogs fished near shallow cover or weeds. Don’t forget to fish the shade line on the csunny days we’ve been having.
Crappies are hanging around flooded brush. Work a jig slowly in and around woody cover. Bluegills and perch are out along the weed edges, try using worms to get the most bites.
The full moon this week should make catfishing good enough to lose a couple hours of sleep. Cut bait, worms, stink baits, and hot dogs are all good options for the roaming night prowlers.
Trout fishing should remain good with all the area stockings from last week. We are entering the tail end of the stockings along the front range, so get out and enjoy the opoprtunity CPW provided for spring and fall trout fishing in the area.
